"Woodsing" by Scot A. Westlake 02./03/02
For what has seemed an eternity My soul has been housebound So into the wilderness I went And there Myself I found
Away from the things of man Where time is just a season Not worn upon my wrist Far past all rhythm or reason
I bade my children "Look Around!" For all about us there was treasure And when we left this sacred ground What we gained, too great to measure
How empty my soul was when we got there And how clearly the woods did call my name And to all this I must now swear It took away all shame
Embraced by this God's holy ground Surely this was his own shinning face And to this place new life I found And shed mans whole rat race
"Come forth, come forth!" it bade me on "For you are welcome here! Let loose the things of man this day I'll take away all fear!"
I told my children to go on without me Then watched them disappear Then knelt beside the sunlit stream So in God's presence near
I spread my arms wide as oak branches And my heart he then did lift Thank you Lord for All life's chances And for it's Wonderous gift poem by blackhorse for shewolf
